The Fernandina Beach Right Whale Festival celebrates the annual return of endangered North Atlantic right whales to the warm coastal waters off northeast Florida and Georgia, where they give birth to and nurse their young. With less than 370 remaining, this family fun event raises awareness of the threats to right whales and how we can help in their recovery. The festival highlights efforts to protect these whales from extinction, as well as ocean-themed activities and exhibits that emphasize education and environmentally responsible adventures and products. Free Admission - Come early and spend the day! Contact Event Coordinator, Alison Deeb to get involved!

Annual 26.4nm ocean race from St. Simons Island (GA) to Amelia Island (FL), hosted by the Amelia Island Sailing Club. Registration is required for this race by clicking on the race listing on the Events Page on the AISC Website. Registration is now open and both the NOR and SI are posted. The race is open to all sea-worthy, self-righting and insured monohull sailboats, and sailing club affiliation is not a requirement. PHRF ratings are required preferably from First Coast Sailing Association (FCSA) or the AISC Race Committee will assign a PHRF Rating. The race starts in the St. Simons Channel and ends in the St. Marys River Channel. Spinnaker and Non-spinnaker classes. Trophies for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each class. Makeup Dates - This race is the makeup race for the race originally scheduled for October 24, but postponed due to extreme winds. No future makeup dates are proposed at this time. The NOR includes marina reservation information for Morningstar Marina on St. Simons Island and for Fernandina Harbor Marina on Amelia Island.

This slow-paced outdoor experience invites you to connect with the land, the animals, and the natural rhythms of the farm. Once all guests have arrived, the goats will be released from their enclosure. Participants should plan to remain for the full experience until the goats are safely returned to their enclosure at the end of the walk. Farm owner, naturalist, and biologist Tina Jenkins will be your guide, sharing insight into the farm's animals, native plants, wildlife, and landscape as we stroll at an easy pace along approximately one mile of nature trails. The walk winds around two ponds, past the donkeys' enclosure, beneath a large grandmother oak, and into the pine forest. We'll pause to relax in pine forest hammocks while the goats browse freely around us, offering time to rest, observe, and take in the quiet beauty of the woods. 🕯️ Arrival & Participation • Please arrive on time to check in • Participants should plan to stay for the full duration of the experience (approximately 1.5hr) 🎒 What to Bring • Water or a beverage of your choice • Bug repellent recommended 🪶 • Comfortable clothing • Shoes appropriate for uneven terrain and that may get dirty 🚫 What Not to Bring • No snacks or food of any kind (the goats can smell it and will try to take it) • No wicker hats or bags (goats think they're snacks) • No natural wood, seed, or plant-based jewelry (goats think they're snacks) • No pets ⚠️ Important Notes • The ground is uneven in areas • Goats may bump into you or jump playfully while walking • Participants should be steady on their feet 🌧️ Weather Cancellations Florida weather is unpredictable, and weather-related cancellations at Jaybird Hammock Farm are never made lightly. We consider on-site conditions like standing water and setup timing when making these decisions-not forecasts alone. We know cancellations can disrupt your travel, hotel, or childcare plans, just as they impact our small farm's revenue. We've experienced guest frustration when the call is made too early and the weather clears, and also when it's made last-minute. The Notice of Race with Sailing Instructions (NOR/SI) including the Course Diagram, Start Time and other race details will be posted on the 2026 Racing Page of the AISC website by the Wednesday before the race day. All seaworthy and insured monohull sailboats are invited to race - no spinnakers, but whisker poles attached to the mast are allowed. Membership in the Amelia Island Sailing Club is required (annual membership $125) for the boat owner. Membership is recommended for other crew members. Sailboats visiting Amelia Island are invited to race, with no membership requirement. A Provisional PHRF Rating can be provided by the AISC Race Committee for boats without a rating certificate, and it is recommended that an official PHRF Rating Certificate be obtained from First Coast Sailing Association (FCSA - $35) in which AISC is a member.

We ask members to bring a dish to share to create a full family-style delicious meal. Members with last name beginning with A-L please bring sides. Members with last name beginning with M-Z please bring desserts. It is mandatory that all members who would like to attend please RSVP no later than Wednesday, November 11th. We need an accurate count as we are limited to our seating and need to ensure we provide the correct amount of turkey. Once you are comfortable, Naturalist/Biologist Tina will lead you on an exploration of the diverse flora, fauna and ecological nuances of the surroundings. This immersive introduction aims to deepen your connection with nature, creating a more enriching and memorable mediation experience. The sound practitioner will begin the session by leading you through a tranquil meditation, setting the stage for introspection and emotional exploration. Following this meditative journey, the sound practitioner will play the singing bowls, the harmonic sounds will surround you, creating a sensory experience that transcends the boundaries of traditional mediation. The resonant tones, like a gentle breeze through the trees, will immerse you in a soothing auditory cocoon, enhancing your connection with the natural surroundings and deepening the overall sense of tranquility and relaxation during the session. Your role: Please arrive 15 minutes before the event time to check in and sign a waiver. Park at the barn and gather at the seating area near the pond. Be prepared to carry your belongings on a walk into the pine forest. Items to bring: Bring any items you can carry to make yourself more comfortable; a blanket, a pillow, beverage, light source.
