Calling all men! It's time to step away from the daily grind, get outdoors, and join us around the fire. On the first Friday of every month, our men's ministry gathers under the pavilion for a night of real community. We're here to build a fire, build brotherhood, and sharpen one another for the road ahead. Whether you're a regular or this is your first time checking us out, there's a spot around the flame with your name on it. What to Expect: The Fire: Real wood, real smoke, and the perfect rugged atmosphere to kick back and be yourself. Real Talk: No fluff. Just genuine connection, laughs, and encouragement with guys who have your back. The Vibe: Relaxed, outdoorsy, and laid back. The perfect way to end the week. The Details: When: The first Friday of every month at 6:30 PM Where: Under the Pavilion What to Bring: A chair and a friend. Iron sharpens iron. Come get sharpened. Continuing Service - Shelter Dog Walk

On Saturday, October 3, we are joining Tails of the Trail for one of their shelter dog hikes with Nassau County Animal Services. The idea is simple: shelter dogs need exercise, attention, socialization, and some time outside of the shelter. We think plenty of veterans could use a good reason to get outside too. This is an opportunity to spend a Saturday morning on the beach, walk a dog, meet some good people, and do something worthwhile. No speeches. No formal program. Just show up and walk with us. We will meet at 8:00 AM for check-in and a required volunteer orientation. Around 8:15 AM, participants will be paired with shelter dogs and head onto the beach for a 1-2 mile walk, depending on the temperature that morning. The hike will wrap up around 9:30 AM, followed by some time to cool down, socialize, and get the dogs ready to head back. The event concludes around 10:00 AM. Tails of the Trail asks participants for a $10 donation to help keep these outings going. We encourage everyone who is able to contribute to do so. But ten dollars will not be the reason somebody stays home. If you want to participate and the $10 is a barrier, come anyway. The Veterans Phalanx will cover it. Veterans, families, and community supporters are welcome. If you plan to attend, please mark yourself Going so we can give the shelter an accurate headcount and make sure there are enough dogs ready to walk. Come spend the morning with us. Annual 26.4nm ocean race from St. Simons Island (GA) to Amelia Island (FL), hosted by the Amelia Island Sailing Club. Registration is required for this race by clicking on the race listing on the Events Page on the AISC Website. Registration is now open and both the NOR and SI are posted. The race is open to all sea-worthy, self-righting and insured monohull sailboats, and sailing club affiliation is not a requirement. PHRF ratings are required preferably from First Coast Sailing Association (FCSA) or the AISC Race Committee will assign a PHRF Rating. The race starts in the St. Simons Channel and ends in the St. Marys River Channel. Spinnaker and Non-spinnaker classes. Trophies for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each class. Makeup Dates - if the race needs to be postponed, the makeup date is Saturday, November 07. The NOR includes marina reservation information for Morningstar Marina on St. Simons Island and for Fernandina Harbor Marina on Amelia Island.
